1952, Hirai Oil Co., Ltd. established to market petroleum products - an
authorized franchisee of Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. for the sale of Idemitsu-
brand petroleum products.
1964, Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. - appointed the firm as its exclusive for
petroleum products procurement and management.
1969, Marketing petrochemicals - entered into the petrochemicals business
under a proprietary contract with Idemitsu Petrochemical Co., Ltd.
1980, Agent for casualty insurance - entered the casualty insurance business,
as a proxy agent of Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd.
1988, Entered the car leasing business.
1989, Hirai Chemicals Co., Ltd. established - the fast expanding petrochemical
business spun-out into a wholly-owned subsidiary.
1994, Diversification into environmental chemicals - as part of a corporate
diversification strategy, the group enters the activated carbon business.
